 Curly's Daily Summary of Savusavu Weather Forecasts/Cyclone Watch!

We are now in the official 2018/2019 Cyclone Season, time to prepare your vessels, yourself and moorings!

The following is Curly's  brief collective summary of Weather after reviewing all or part of the following;-

.Fiji Met Forecasts, Sopac, GFS gribs ,,MetVuw, ZY Gribs; US Navy –Pearl Harbor and  other sources for

the area of Savusavu –Fiji Islands,  do not complain to  the messenger

( Curly ) if the forecasts are wrong

 

1] Marine Weather Forecast;

Marine Weather Bulletin Issued from the National Weather

 Forecasting Centre Nadi at 6:08am on Saturday the 15th of

 December 2018 

A STRONG WIND WARNING PREVIOUSLY IN FORCE FOR 

NORTHERN VANUA LEVU WATERS, YASAWA WATERS, 

NORTHERN LAU WATERS, KORO SEA, KADAVU AND 

VATU-I-RA PASSAGES IS CANCELLED. 

Situation: A southeast wind flow prevails over Fiji. 

Forecast to midnight tonight for Fiji waters: Southeast winds

 15 to 20 knots. Moderate to fresh southeast winds. 

Further outlook: Southeast winds 15 to 20 knots. Moderate 

to fresh southeast winds 

2] Fiji Met's Public Savusavu Bulletin; 

Savusavu Today;- Cloudy periods with some showers

Savusavu tomorrow;-Some showers 

3]  Savusavu Area Gribs ( Metvuw/zy Gribs )  for next 4 days

Sat 15 Dec 2018     10 S/SW showers, hvy afternoon

showers, overnight 10 ESE some showers.

Sun 16 Dec 2018     10 SE/ESE fine , afternoon hvy showers

Overnight 10 SW/S fine.

Mon 17 Dec 2018     10 N/S fine afternoon showers overnight

10 NNW some showers.

Tue 18 Dec 2018      10 WNW/SSW fine? Overnight10 N/NNW showers         

 

4] Grib files out 10 days  looking for Lows/bad weather that

will effect Savusavu ;-Now we all know Gribs over 4 days are alittle

suspect but Gribs do often indicate possible bad weather, there does

not appear to be any  troublesome weather out 10 days from Wed 19

Dec winds light,,but some showers on Wed 19,Fri21,Mon 21 Dec

 

5] Tropical Cyclone Watch; There does not appear to be any

Intense Tropical Lows nor Cyclonic activity that will effect Savsavu,out

10 days There has been weak lows coming and going around the

Solomons need to watch these lows.
