SEMINARS

WORLD  ARC  yacht 2014
NOW Available for the 2015 Yacht Cruising Season;-
Curly’s Fiji Chart Marking and
Navigation Seminars held weekly only in Savusavu, Fiji Islands.

*A common concern of Yachts-people cruising the Fiji Islands is that the number of Reefs are intimidating, comments abound that the Charts are not always accurate, How can sailors access what is available re Navigating Fiji waters? how can they passage plan? they have Guest arriving mid season and don’t want to return to Nadi to uplift them, there is no good Cruising Guide available for sailors? etc. etc.

*Curly’s Seminars specifically cater for yachts-people who may not have cruised within and around reefs before , who do not know Fiji and have been unable to source current/old Cruising Guides ….

*In the 2014 Cruising season “302 Cruising Yachts” attended Curly’s Seminars in Savusavu. The Seminars duration is 2 to 3 Hours depending on participants interaction, and cover most of Fiji, the exception is Mamanuths’s and Yasawa’s where no waypoints are provided however a text CD is available to copy free. Briefings for that area are available from the Bars at Vuda, Denarau and Musket Cove

Question and Answer conclusion …..Most if not all your questions re Cruising in Fiji will be answered during this Intense Seminar, a very common comment following the Seminar is darn-it our Cruising plan’s need to be changed NOW !!!!!!! -do not worry once REGISTERED Joint Passage planning is free of Charge after the Seminar and is possible with Curly-YES FREE….obviously dependant on Curly’s Availability

Note; the attendance figure of 302 maybe misleading as often just the Skippers attended the initial Seminars following the Seminar a large number of Skippers later booked in themselves AND their entire crews for Seminars before starting their Cruise through Fiji.

*An optional extra at the Seminars is to become Registered which allows for FREE access to Curly’s Chartlet Series , which includes Waypoints for the Current yachting season. On request and if Curly has waypoints for the area requested , emails will be sent with additional Waypoints and Cruising information.

*The Service does not stop there, once Registered, Yachts can contact Curly on Voda-fone or via Email for “Emergency Assistance . Curly logged 154 contacts during the 2012 Cruising season the greater majority were yachts who thru bad weather had ended up in areas they had not expected, who suddenly found they could not met their ETA at their planned destination before 1600 hours and wanted alternative safe Destination options, and those who wanted Passage Planning Assistance due to extending their stays at great anchorages this additional assistance is free but please refer note below.

sv/Salsa "...dangerous and notorious reefs are everywhere and lurking just below the surface. Here, thousands of sailors rammed their boat on one of the unfathomably beautiful corals. Either they have lost their treasures, or they have been repaired for large sums. The digital navigation has not improved the situation significantly, since many rely too much on ancient measurements carried over into modern pixels.
Those who worry to sail in among Fiji's islands, the best Pacific Ocean can offer, just need to head to Savusavu and go to a seminar with Curly. There you can learn how sevusevu ceremonies are performed and where to buy the best yaqona. Sevusevu is the name of the ceremony we must do when we come to a village for the first time. It may sound hard but is often a very nice way into a society that otherwise would just be a "visit". To show our respect and as a gift, we include a root called Yangona. The root is ground down and turned into kava drunk to seal our affiliation. All this we learn at Curly's seminar, followed by a packed hour of destinations and what they have to offer.

Curly is the key to a safe sailing among the three hundred islands and thousands of reefs.

"There are two problems," argues Curly. "One is that many have sailed far once they get here, so they feel they've mastered their boat and find it difficult to listen to advice. The second is that many long distance sailors would not gone away without GPS, so they can not actually navigate. " read more
