5:30am on Sunday the 30th of August 2020
A STRONG WIND WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR
NORTHERN VANUA LEVU WATERS, NORTHERN LAU
WATERS, YASAWA WATERS, SOUTHWEST VITI LEVU WATERS,
VATU-I-RA AND KADAVU PASSAGES.
Situation: A fresh to strong easterly wind flow prevails over Fiji
waters. Meanwhile, a weak trough of low pressure with cloud and
showers remains slow moving to the northwest of Fiji. It is
expected to gradually drift southwards and affect the group from
today.
Forecast to midnight tonight for Fiji waters: For Northern Vanua
Levu waters, Northern Lau waters, Yasawa waters, Southwest
Viti Levu waters, Vatu-i-Ra and Kadavu Passages: East to
southeast winds 20 to 25 knots. Winds expected to ease to 15 to
20 knots and gradually turn northeasterly from later today. Rough
seas, becoming moderate to rough from later today. Moderate
southeasterly swells.
Further outlook: Northeasterly to southwesterly winds 15 to 20
knots. Moderate seas.
For the rest of Fiji Waters: Easterly winds 15 to 20 knots. Winds
expected to ease to 10 to 15 knots and gradually turning
northeasterly from later today. Moderate seas. Moderate
southerly swells.
Further Outlook: Northeasterly to southwesterly winds 10 to
15 knots. Moderate seas.
